POEM: THE IDLE MINDS

THE IDLE MINDS

Chit chat
They talk about me
When I turned to look at them
They turned and looked away

Chit chat
They whisper about me
And when I near them
Changed was their topic of gist.

Chit chat
I nearly trip and fall
As their fixed gaze
Cast me a spell
And tied was my leg
With an invisible chain

Chit chat
They chat about me
The chatter-boxes
Like the idle parrot
Who spends all day long chatting

Chit chat
They keep on counting
As they move like pendulum
The people in search of their daily bread
For theirs it’s a chat

MEANING AND COMMENTARY

Actually what motivated this poem was that I grew up in a place where you could easily seen a group of people, sitting idle and chatting about passers-by. I usually suspected that people are always talking about me whenever I passed them by. And I really hate it. This is what actually motivated this poem. This peom was written around 2011.
